Iain discovered his love of golf aged 10 years old when he started playing after a move from Ely, Cambridgeshire to Grantham in Lincolnshire.

 

After a successful club & county career, Iain turned Professional aged 20 whilst studying for a HND in golf course management studies at Merrist Wood College in Surrey.

Iain graduated from college and completed his PGA training Course in 1995 with a grade A in teaching.

 

After qualifying, Iain initially worked within the retail arm of golf before pursuing a playing career.  Due to Iain’s love of teaching he continued to teach whilst competing.  During which time he had many successes in county and regional events, winning the Lincolnshire order of merit on 6 occasions but ultimately the dream of playing on the European tour wasn't to be.  It was then that Iain became a full-time teaching professional.

 

Iain joined the team at Belton Woods during the spring of 2009 in the role of Teaching Professional. His aim is to make all lessons fun and enjoyable for everyone, using humour and a straightforward approach to help golfers understand their own swings and enabling them to reach and surpass their own goals & expectations. Through the years playing in pro-ams with amateur partners, Iain has seen first-hand the mistakes made both in technique and course management and uses this knowledge to enhance his coaching.

 

Iain believes in a structured plan to put techniques in place for a long term benefit not just weekend quick fixes.

 

Iain's aim is to make golf accessible to everyone and works closely with schools & colleges in the area to make sure this happens. Iain was identified as an expert junior specialised coach by the Golf Foundation in May 2015 and is one of ten regional HSBC Golf Roots Coaches. He is the only coach within Lincolnshire to receive this recognition. In 2019 was given the Sinclair Award by the Golf Foundation for services to grass roots junior golf in South Lincolnshire

 

Golf lessons with Iain are available to golfers of all levels and abilities from the first time beginner to experienced golf professionals, from juniors to seniors with individual and group lesson packages to suit all
